Each year, Jr.FLL® presents a new and exciting Challenge to ignite the inherent creativity in young children. While exploring the real-world theme, teams will learn about simple machines as they build a model made of LEGO® elements with a motorized part. They will also learn to present information through a Show Me Poster. Throughout their experience, teams will operate under Jr.FLL’s signature set of Core Values:
- We are a team.
- We do the work. Our coaches and mentors help us learn, but we find the answers ourselves.
- We share our experiences and discoveries with others.
- We are helpful, kind, and show respect when we work, play, and share. We call this Gracious Professionalism™.
- We are all winners.
- We have fun.
Each team will have one or more adult volunteer coaches and 6 members, aged 6-10. The team will meet once a week for six weeks and the program will culminate with an Amherst Exhibition and possible participation in a Showcase. (Costs associated with tournaments and exhibitions are not included)
This program is run by volunteers and will need two parents to coach each team. This team can meet after-school, on a weekday evening or during the weekend depending on the coach's availability. We will help you secure a location. One way to be sure the meeting time is convenient for you is to coach!!
**This is a revolving program which runs for 6 weeks once we have a minimum of 5 participants. Gather a team or register to be place on a team. **
