Yoga for Kids will be taking place in the library temporarily
Yoga helps kids develop confidence, self-awareness, and calming techniques. Yoga skills learned at a young age can help children as they grow and mature by giving them resources to draw on as they encounter the challenges of growing up.
This class provides each student with movement, music, creativity, self-reflection and cooperative experiences. Children are taught yoga poses in a fun, playful way that encourages children to move, get stronger and understand how that happens in the poses. Cooperative games are also played to encourage movement, interaction and fun!
Each class includes brief quiet periods where they develop concentration and self-understanding through breath work, visualization and meditation.
Leslie will pick students up after school in the lobby and oversee a snack-time while waiting for any students coming from outside the school. The program will take place in a Wilkins classroom, and perhaps outside weather permitting. Snack is included!
Certified yoga teacher, Leslie Formby has taught yoga to adults and children in Amherst for over 10 years, through Amherst Recreation.
Class will be held in the Music Room. We will need 4 students in order for class to run.
