Do you love to write? Are you working on the next best selling story, book, or play?
Writing fiction or non-fiction is easy, fun, and so rewarding — both to the writer and the reader!
Come learn the “compass” of good writing, with a touch of science!
We will explore how to choose a topic that interests you, how to begin a story, how to research, decide on an audience, and reach a catchy conclusion.
We will be working on non-fiction and fictional styles. At the end, we will discuss how to get a piece published.

Check out what our Compass of Writing parents/participants had to say about the class below!
"My son has participated in two sessions of Compass of Writing with Laurie Toupin. He has loved the class and looks forward to each week. He also connects well to Laurie. For a child who does not enjoy writing, he has written two short stories with excitement. A big win!"
"My two sons have enjoyed Laurie’s writing class immensely! There is a struggle with home-schoolers and meeting the needs of their writing curriculum. This class by far exceeds those. They work on their projects throughout the week, then some how the finds a way to engage them again the next week, where they do it all over again. My kids have never been so excited about writing!"
"The small class size was perfect for my child. Not only did he gain experience from older peers, but he also benefitted from Laurie’s honest feedback, gentle praise, and flexible writing assignments. The hands on science activities were well received by my child and kept him interested in each class. Prior to coming to the last class of the series my child asked me to enroll him in a continuation course if another series is offered. He also grouped Laurie into a group of his top three all-time best teachers."
