Mini Camp at Outdoor Discovery (Ages 4 &5)

Sparking joy, creativity and curiosity through exploring the natural world. Hands-on discovery through the senses for ages 4-5. Nature based crafts each day. Campers will take part in various activities, sports, crafts, and water play geared around a new theme each week!

            Week 2 (6/24-6/28): Woodland Critters
            Week 3 (7/1-7/5): Wild Water World (NOTE: There is No Program on July 4th, 2019
            Week 4 (7/8-7/12): Little Paws and Helpful Claws
            Week 5 (7/15-7/19): Fairy Houses and Gnome Homes
            Week 6 (7/22-7/26): Wild in the Woods

EXTENDED CARE  Before and after care is now available for our Mini Camp participants. Registration can be found on the Outdoor Discovery webpage, found HERE. 

Scroll down to the bottom to the registration options and choose "Extended Care" Your child must be listed as PK on their profile. If you are having trouble, give us a call at the office and we can help!

Packing List for Camp
Please make sure your camper has these items in a backpack everyday of camp!

- Snack
- Reusable water bottle labeled with your child's name (masking tape works well)
- Sunscreen
- Bug spray
- Closed-toed shoes for hiking (& extra socks!)
- Sandals/water shoes/old sneakers - for water activities
- Bathing Suit
- Towel
- Complete set of extra clothes (t-shirt, shorts, underwear, socks)
- Rain coat/slicker - we go outside rain or shine!
- Sweatshirt/jacket - in case of a drop in temperature

Daily Schedule
  • 8:30- 12:30 - ½ Day Option
  • 8:30-9- Drop-off at Outdoor classroom/ Free play
  • 9 AM- Morning circle- Daily Song
  • Outdoor play
  • 10 AM- snack
  • Group games/storytelling/craft/outdoor play
  • 12- Lunch
  • Pick up at 12:30 from outdoor Amphitheater on circle
  • 12:30-4pm- Full Day Option
  • More outdoor play/cooperative games & activities
  • Pick up at 4pm at outdoor Amphitheater on circle

Weekly Themes
Little Gems- Exploring Rocks and minerals. Learning about/playing at Rock formations on the trails at PMEC

Woodland Critters- Learn about creatures here at PMEC. Explore different habitats on the trails- vernal pools, forest and see who we can find! Mammals, insects, amphibians and reptiles await us!

Wild Water World- Exploring the water at PMEC. Fun with buckets and nets! Brooks, vernal pools and Ponds.

Little paws and Helpful Claws- Lets find small mammals and insects through exploring their habitats. Exploring life under logs and underground. Who lives in the soil? We shall find out through being soil detectives.

Fairy Houses and Gnome homes- We will create a nature based home for a wee creature and work on our fairy/gnome village in the woods near PMEC!

Wild in the Woods- Learn about camouflage, habitats and what animals need to survive. We will build shelters together just like the animals at PMEC.
