Makerspace Mask Donations

Our team of Makers has discovered that we can use the tools at the Makerspace to make N95 Type masks which we would donate to local medical professionals. 

The plastics and other associated filter costs about $30 which can create 16 masks. We are asking for donations from the community to support our local medical personnel and our Makers have graciously donated their time to help create these. Just sign up below to donate, similar to registering for an activity, and all funds will go towards supplies. You can register as many times as you want!

We would like to stress that Amherst Makerspace is not selling PPE! We are donating N95 type masks and mask relief bands to local healthcare professionals, essential personnel, and individuals who specifically request equipment. Making a donation does not put you on a list to receive PPE -- you must reach out directly to share your needs and coordinate distribution. If you know of medical professionals, essential personnel, or community members in need of this type of PPE, please contact terri.behm@gmail.com. As we have started catching up with the most immediate requests from medical personnel, we can also help residents who need a safe mask alternative when they must go out. A financial donation is not required to receive PPE.

A note on safety: We are collaborating with healthcare professionals and other makers to develop open-source PPE; however, we caution that these items have not been tested or approved for medical use by any relevant authorities. The Town Of Amherst, Amherst School District and  The Amherst Makerspace makes no guarantees that these masks will prevent transmission of COVID-19. Please continue to adhere to current CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19 and use open source PPE at your own risk.
