Trip- Climbing at Pawtuckaway State Park • Register • View Cart •

The day will include traveling by the Amherst Rec bus to Pawtuckaway State Park, a moderately strenuous approach to the climbing area on a rugged logging road, and the bulk of the day will be spent climbing a rock slab using harness and ropes for safety.  The climbs range from easy to moderate and there will be an option to rappel for those interested.  No prior climbing experience necessary.  All equipment is provided. Participants will be expected to assist in carrying the gear to and from the site.  This trip is for seniors, adults, teens, youth or whole families!

Meet The Instructor
My name is John Dowd. I am an Amherst resident. I formally taught outdoor adventure at Souhegan High School, where the ropes course and climbing wall have been my classroom since the school opened in 1992. I am an outdoor educator with 40 years of experience in teaching climbing and leading trips. I have led this trip around 15 times, and as recent as last spring.
