Weaving Camp
Come learn to weave or advance your weaving skills during our Weaving Camp! Join us for an exciting week of activities that will teach important developmental skills and offer a creative and engaging learning experience.  We will learn about the history of weaving, and a variety of methods. We will explore techniques on different types of looms including cardboard looms, basket weaving, nature weaving, radial weaving and many other techniques. Students will leave with a collection of finished weavings and various self directed projects. 
 
Who: Students entering third-sixth grade
When: July 29- Aug 1, 2024 8:30-1:30PM
Where: Wilkins Elementary School Art Room
Fee: $260 (All art materials are included in this fee)
Max: 22
 
Sample Day:
-New weaving techniques will be introduced through a lesson. 
-Guided weaving activity or project tied to the lesson.
-Snack Break
-Continue weaving activity/ new activity introduced. 
-Lunch/outdoor time
-Open studio time for students to explore with weaving materials on their own or work on the whole group friendly loom. 

Meet your instructors
Jessica Anderson: Jessica is the art teacher at Wilkins Elementary School. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Master’s Degree in Art Education. She has taught in a variety of environments, including two Elementary Schools in New Hampshire, as well as a Middle School and a High School in Los Angeles, California. She has lived in many diverse places around the world, which has instilled her deep appreciation for so many cultures. Jessica has been sharing her love of art and culture with her students for the past nine years. She hopes to spark student’s creativity and support originality through fun and engaging art making.

Corey Blanchard: Corey is a historian from New Hampshire who studies Colonial North America. He received a Master’s Degree in American History (United States) from the University of New Hampshire and is currently completing a doctoral program in history from the University of Southern California. He has graduate teaching experience from both UNH and USC and has worked in schools at the elementary, middle and high school level. He hopes to share his love of antiquities, preservation, and culture with his students through immersive hands-on activities.
