Mini DIY Art Camp!

Come join us for some DIY (Do it yourself) art fun! This 3-day camp experience is tailored to explore art forms/projects that inspire rising 4th-rising 7th graders! DIY projects for this age group promote independence, inspire motivation and confidence, are fun, spark creativity and self-exploration. Camp DIY projects will include creating journal books/vision boards, jewelry making (using polymer clay), room décor projects, weaving, and more! We will incorporate a variety of materials and techniques including crafting, collage, clay, beads, drawing materials, and yarns/fabrics! All projects will come home at the end of camp, and all art materials are included in the camp fee.

Sample Day:

  • Morning art lesson focusing on DIY projects planned for that day
  • Snack break
  • Morning work time on guided DIY art project (ex: jewelry making/polymer clay/weaving)
  • Lunch time/Outdoor time
  • Continue DIY project from morning/self-directed DIY art project (ie: journal book/vision board)
 
Who: Rising 4th-Rising 7th graders
When: July 15th, 16th, 17th
Time:  8:30am-1:30pm (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)

Where: Wilkins Elementary School Art Room
Fee: $195(All art materials are included in this fee)   Max: 22
What to Bring: Campers will need to pack snack, lunch, water bottle, and a towel (to sit on outside). Camp runs Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:30-1:30.

Meet The Instructors
Holly Majkut: Holly is trained as a mental health counselor and art therapist. She holds a master’s degree in clinical counseling and art therapy and is credentialed with the art therapy board. She currently provides therapeutic services to children and families through Mountain Heart Wellness located in Amherst NH and collaborates with the Amherst NH Recreation department to provide various programs. She has been working as an art therapist and mental health counselor with children and families over the past 20 years. Holly values the use of the arts as a therapeutic tool to support children's emotional growth and development. With a focus on increasing communication, problem solving and social skills while promoting individual expression through the fun of creativity!

Jessica Anderson: Jessica is the art teacher at Wilkins Elementary School. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Master’s Degree in Art Education. She has taught in a variety of environments, including two Elementary Schools in New Hampshire, as well as a Middle School and a High School in Los Angeles, California. She has lived in many diverse places around the world, which has instilled her deep appreciation for so many cultures. Jessica has been sharing her love of art and culture with her students for the past eight years. She hopes to spark student’s creativity and support originality through fun and engaging art making.
