Welcome To Nature's Playground where adventure and fun awaits!At Nature's Playground we will have fun exploring different habitats and learning all about what you can find out in the amazing woods all around you. Each class we will begin with a story, then circle time to discuss a new topic and do an activity related to the topic. We will end with a take-home craft. Who: Children ages 3-6 and their caregiversWhere: Peabody Mill Environmental centerWhen: Classes are the first three Thursdays of each month- 10:00am-10:45am. Fee: $29R; $36NR
 
2:30 PM - 4:30 PM    Afterschool Lego Adventures w/ Right Brain Curriculum - Nov/Dec Session - Lego Future House
November/December- Lego Future House: If you can imagine the future, you can build it!!What will life on Earth be like in the year 2124? That is the question you will ponder as our Right Brain Curriculum teachers take you on a tour of smart homes, driver less cars, robotic chefs, self-sustaining skyscrapers, and more. Learn how futurists predict life on Earth will evolve and discover how innovators around the world are changing it already. Then it will be your turn to do the imagining. You will create your own Lego house of the future – designing space-age furniture for every room in the house and a futuristic vehicle for the garage. Even the family pet will get a reboot! You will consider how virtual reality, climate change, and interactive robots could change life on Earth and beyond. So, get in your virtual time travel machine and start designing your Future House!Who: Grades 1 - 4When: Thursdays after school for a 6 week session. (See Dates Below).Where: Peabody  Mill Environmental Center - 66 Brook Road, AmherstFee: $190R, $210NR**Transportation will be provided from Wilkins Elementary to PMEC.  Remember to register through the Wilkins Website PUP patrol.**** A minimum of 8 participants is needed to run this course.**

11:30 AM - 2:30 PM    Early Release - PMEC Explorers - Early Release - PMEC Explorers (December)
Come join us and enjoy an afternoon of fun and exploring at Peabody Mill Environmental Center.  We will explore the amazing hiking trails, play games and make crafts.  On early release Wednesdays we will pick up the explorers from Wilkins and bring them to PMEC for an afternoon of fun in nature! WHO: Grades 1-4 WHEN: Early Release Days - September 10th,October 9th, December 11th WHERE: Peabody Mill Environmental Center, 66 Brook Road, Amherst FEE: $35R, $40NR  **Transportation will be provided from Wilkins Elementary to PMEC.  Remember to register through the Wilkins Website PUP patrol.** Sample Schedule: 11:30 AM - Pick Up at Wilkins 12:00 PM - Arrive at PMEC 12:00PM- 12:15PM - Snack and bathroom break.12:15PM to 1:15PM -  Head out onto the trails for a fun weekly activity, exploring habitats, fort building, learning about animals at PMEC. 1:15 PM - Head back to PMEC 1:15PM-2:15PM-  Options of Lego challenges, Gaga Ball, nature crafts, quiet homework time 2:30PM - Pick UpPlease pick up on time. Any student remaining past 2:30pm will be billed a late fee.  A minimum of 6 participants is needed to run this program.

Come to Peabody Mill Environmental Center and make your holiday gifts to give your family members.  We will have our PMEC elves on hand to help out, play games and serve refreshments!  You can make up to three different gifts that you will take home wrapped and ready to give.  Come have fun at the Elf Workshop and get ready for the holidays! Homeschool Science Classes Welcome to Homeschool Science Class! We are thrilled to be kicking off the Fall school year with an exciting Homeschool curriculum. This year PMEC will be offering science classes once a month on Tuesday.  The structure for each session includes, one hour science education and one hour play/social interaction. The classes will  be divided by age during the first hour. Ages may combine for the second hour of various team building games and group activities.Please find below an outline of what we planned for each month. Hope you can join us!Who: Ages 5-7yrs & 8-10yrsWhat: Home School Science ClassesWhere: PMEC 66 Brook Rd Amherst, NH 03031 – Weather allowing, classes will be held outside.When: The 3rd Tuesday of every month - from 9:00am - 11:00am * This is a drop off class * We will need a minimum of 6 students students* All classes will have an element of outdoor time. September - Exploring Mini Beasts — Join us as we learn about small invertebrates living in our pond at PMEC.  Students will become pond biologists and use nets and buckets and take a closer look into the pond life and what makes  up a healthy ecosystem.October - Exploring Physics — We will learn about Newton's first law of motion and explore concepts like gravity, drag and impact.  Students will design and make their own device for our egg drop challenge!!!November - Genetics/Heritability — Have you ever wondered why some dogs have floppy ears and some have pointy? Come learn about genes and heritability through man's best friend dogs! Learn how dogs are helping humans fight diseases.December – Owls/Winter birds -Join us as we explore these birds of prey along with other winter birds. We’ll talk about their physical characteristics and habitats. We will dissect owl pellets to see if we can identify what animals the owls have been eating and their place in the food web. January- Animal Tracking -We will explore how to identify animals by their tracks, understand how animals move, and learn about what animals are still awake in the woods near us during the winter months. Feb- Exploring the color red, Red Science -Celebrating the colors red and pink for Valentine’s Day join us as we do some fun science experiments that involve shades of red and pink.

4:00 PM - 6:00 PM    Winter Solstice Lantern Walk - Winter Solstice Lantern Walk
Come celebrate the winter solstice with us! You can make a special lantern to celebrate the solstice and then take it on a guided night hike. There will be a campfire to warm up by and the traditional burning of the Yule log.
